1. What is the Amateur Trilby Tour?
The Trilby Tour came about in 2007 after golf aficionado and Savile Row designer William Hunt's own love of the sport saw him come up with a unique competition whereby golfers could compete nationally in an extraordinary 'Winner-Takes-All' format.

The Trilby Tour was created to give players from all walks of life the chance of hitting the big time, played out in a televised national tournament. Amateurs from all over the world come together to compete in Pro conditions, under the pressures of an international televised event.

Where else would you get the chance to play in front of Sky TV cameras and be seen by millions of people on Sky Sports?

2. Who can play in the Amateur Trilby Tour?
The Amateur tournament is open to any golfer who holds a current handicap issued by a CONGU affiliated golf club. You must hold a handicap of 18 or better and must provide proof (handicap certificate that is no more than 14 days old) of your handicap on the day of your chosen tournament.

3. Is there an age limit to enter?
The only rule we have is that players are over 18 on the day of their chosen tournament (proof of age may be required). Last year's event we welcomed players from 18 to 72!

4. I'm a woman - can I compete?
At this moment in time the Trilby Tour is a male-only event but if there is enough demand in the future then we may reconsider.

5. Entry to 2011 is full – but can I still play?
Yes – by entering a Qualifier for any of the Regional Championships. All details are on the relevant club page.

Or you can join the waiting list. Although entry is full, it may be the case that not all entrants decide to take up their place. Confirmed entrants will have 14 days to select their club once the venues have been announced. All places are on a first come first serve basis. Any remaining places will then be offered to those on the waiting list. We will email you with regular updates but don't forget to keep checking back on the site.

6. How do I join the waiting list?
To join the waiting list you will need to register as a member first and pay a £50 deposit online.

Log in with your username and password and select the WAITING LIST option. Pay your deposit either by card or Paypal (Entrants from Ireland should select the Paypal option)

This deposit is refundable if we are unable to offer you a place (refunds will be made after 2011 tournament has finished)

7. I have paid a £50 guaranteed deposit, what happens next?

• If you have already paid a confirmed deposit then select the region you would like to play in and select and scroll down to the bottom 'Pay the remainder of £200' when you choose your club.
• Only once full payment of £250 is made will you be fully entered into the event.
• All places are subject to availability.
• Failure to complete your entry and choose a club will result in the loss of your guaranteed place and deposit.
• We do not allocate or hold spaces at venues for entrants; it is down to the individual to secure their entry which is treated on a first come first serve basis
(2 more regional venues and the International Final venue will be announced shortly, however there are to be no more planned venues in the South-East).

8. What next - Practice Rounds

We recommend you get a few practice rounds in before the big day. Only the Regional Champion and 9 runners-up from each event will go through to the finals - where you'll be pitted against the best of each region. You'll also want to make sure you're at your best when the cameras are honing, so no nasty surprises for you on the course!

9. Regional Championship format:
Regional Championships: 12 May - 4 August
Amateur Finals: TBC

18 holes of golf where the top four scores (if needed after a one-shot shootout) will go through to a 3 hole play-off in a Winner Takes All finish to find the Regional Champion.
The Regional Champion and 9 runners-up (on countback in the event of any ties for 11th place) will be invited to play at the National Amateur Finals date and location TBC.

10. Where and what date will the final be played?
TBC

11. Amateur Prize
TBC

12. How can I find out if I have a confirmed deposit or if I am on the waiting list?
Log in and select ENTRY HISTORY on the right hand side (located in the User Menu)

13. What is included in my entry fee?
The full entry fee is £250. Included in the entry fee is a complete William Hunt outfit. This will comprise of:
1 x William Hunt Trilby Hat
1 x William Hunt Golf Shirt
1 x William Hunt Belt
1 x William Hunt Trousers

Clothing update: Clothing will become available at a later date-  all entrants will receive further information once available. You will need to choose your outfit within 7 days of clothing becoming available, so your top, trousers and belt can be posted out to you before your chosen event. All other items will be available to pick up on the day of registration.

All of these items included in your entry is worth over £550 and will be yours to keep after the tournament!

14. When will the second phase of venues be announced?
Second phase of venues will be announced at a later date we will send entrants further information once available.

It will be down you to choose your venue - you may choose to play in the region nearest to you, or you may prefer a change of scene and go to a different region. Please note that places are on a first-come first-serve basis.

Any remaining places will then be offered to those on the waiting list 14 days after the dates have gone live with further instructions.

15. What is the playing format and handicap allowance?
Play is three balls and the format is Stableford with a ¾ handicap allowance. The maximum playing handicap is 18 and your handicap will be taken as is shown on the day of the tournament.

16. Do you monitor handicaps?
We monitor handicaps very carefully. At each event we ask to see proof of handicap in the form of a valid handicap certificate (no older than 14 days old on the date of the tournament) for every player at tournament registration. We will also keep a copy of the handicap in case of any dispute.

We accept the following types of handicap: a CONGU affiliated golf club handicap.

17. How do I select my clothing?
Clothing will become available at a later date -  we will send entrants further information and instructions once available. You will then be able to choose a top and pair of trousers from the William Hunt Golfwear range.

18. How are tee times chosen?
Tee times are chosen at random and groups are made up of 3-balls the first tee time generally is at 7am but can change depending on the size of the field. You will be notified of your tee time by email a minimum of 2 weeks before your chosen event. Tee times will not be able to change once they have been set.

19. How do I qualify for the Amateur Trilby Tour Final?
The top 10 scores of the day will go through to the Trilby Tour Final; there will be a count back if necessary by the head pro of the golf course, entrants who have made it through to the final will be confirmed by email.

20. Can I play with a friend?
You may both enter the same region but in the interests of fair play we will not be able to place you in the same game as all 3-balls are drawn at random.

21. Do I need a caddy?
Yes all entrants must have a caddy on the day of their chosen tournament -  the caddy can be anyone of your choice the only requirement is that they can carry the bag unassisted for the entire length of the course without the use of trolleys. If you progress to the final you will need to keep all of your caddie gear with you, if you lose your caddie outfit or change your caddie and require a different outfit there will be a replacement cost.

22. I'm a woman - can I caddy for a player?
Yes by all means, and you won't be the first as we welcome female caddies to come join us in the game.

23. Can I bring friends and family along?
Of course! We like to think of the TT as not just an event but an experience to be shared with. There is no spectator charge - you are welcome to invite family and friends down to support you on the day and witness your finest moments.

24. Can I use a GPS measuring device?
No - GPS measuring devices are not permitted on the day of the competition

*RESTRICTIONS
All players and caddies must be able to walk the course unaided. No trollies, buggies or other motorized/mechanical devices are permitted
